A wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange column using a tee section for the shear tab welded to the column web. Column continuity plates are welded inside the column flanges on each side, aligned with the beam flanges. The beam web is welded to the column with a complete joint penetration weld per note 3, and the shear plate is welded to the column per note 4. Fillet welds connect the shear plate to the beam web, maintaining a typical two-inch clearance.
