A wind girt sized per plan connects to a hollow structural section column with a maximum half-inch gap. Top and bottom connections utilize L5x5x3/8 angles measuring zero feet five inches long welded to the girt and column. A five-sixteenths-inch stiffener plate is centered at each angle and welded to provide additional reinforcement. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size secure the angles and stiffeners in place typically throughout the assembly.
