A hollow structural section brace connects to a steel tank wall using a three-eighths-inch by eight-inch by one-foot plate secured with three three-quarter-inch diameter ASTM A325 through-bolts. The tank shell is provided by others, with the connection plate engineered by the tank designer. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds are specified above and below the brace connection.
