A four-inch diameter standard pipe brace is anchored to a three-and-a-half-inch diameter standard pipe sleeve welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld to a three-quarter-inch by five-inch by one-foot-six-inch steel plate. The steel plate is secured to a new six-by-ten flat sleeper with two three-quarter-inch by six-inch lag screws at the centerline. The flat sleeper bears on existing plywood and is tied down with LSTA9 straps on each side, fastened twice. New two-by-four face-nailed members with ten-penny nails at twelve inches on center or new four-by-six flat blocking connect to existing two-by-four members at the purlin lines. Four half-inch lag screws at two inches on center attach to each end through LSTA30 straps, with six inches of minimum embedment into the supporting members.
