Typical edge conditions for steel deck bearing on a supporting structural steel beam, with separate conditions for deck flutes perpendicular and parallel to the beam. For the perpendicular condition, a continuous 18-gauge angle is provided at the edge, with an upper angle required at concrete fill where it occurs, and a maximum 12-inch overhang. For the parallel condition, a continuous edge angle is sized per the edge angle thickness gauge table based on concrete thickness and overhang, welded to the supporting member with a five-sixteenth-inch weld sized one-inch to twelve-inches, and puddle welded with three-quarter-inch puddle welds at twelve-inches on center. Concrete fill is detailed where required, maintaining a two-inch minimum bearing and up to an eight-inch maximum overhang before requiring a separate detail.
