This plan section details a pipe post or column connection with wide-flange beams framing into the assembly. The circular column or pipe above is fitted with stiffener plates at the top and base plates sized per project specifications. A five-sixteenths inch fillet weld is specified at each end of the plates. A wide-flange beam frames into the column with a one-half inch minimum clearance, accompanied by an optional trim plate at the contractor's discretion.
