A buckling-restrained brace connects to a steel beam via a three-eighths-inch by six-inch gusset plate centered on a work point. Half-inch stiffener plates are provided on each side of the beam web, accompanied by three-eighths-inch stiffener plates welded with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. Additional three-eighths-inch by six-inch plates are added on each side where required, and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds are applied typically. The buckling-restrained brace features a welded connection provided by the brace manufacturer.
