A concrete floor slab features a thickened section to support a stair stringer and its connection. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars run longitudinally through the thickened slab region. The total length of the thickened slab extends twelve inches beyond the distance between the stair stringers. The stair stringer and connection assembly are provided by others.
