A vertical reinforcing bar is welded perpendicular to a horizontal structural steel member using low hydrogen electrodes with a complete penetration weld. The weld profile provides a full structural connection between the concrete reinforcing bar and the steel plate or section. Low hydrogen electrodes are specified to prevent cracking in the welded joint.
