Connected plates require full capacity development in tension perpendicular to the splice line. Splice connections allow a maximum gap of six inches when full continuous connection is not achievable.
NOTES: 1. ALL SPLICES ARE TO DEVELOP FULL CAPACITY OF CONNECTED PLATES IN TENSION IN THE DIRECTION PERPENDICULAR TO THE SPLICE LINE. 2. IN THE CASE THAT FULL CONTINUOUS SPLICE CONNECTION IS NOT ACHIEVABLE 6" MAX
