A steel deck runs parallel to a masonry wall with a typical top-of-wall gap. The deck bears on a 1/4 inch by 15 inch by 2 foot 3 inch plate anchored into the deck flute with four 3/4 inch diameter expansion anchors having a 3 1/4 inch minimum embedment at 12 inches on center. An L4x3x5/16 by 1 foot 0 inch long angle is welded to the plate at each end with a 3/16 inch fillet weld. Expansion anchors require a minimum 6 inch distance from the edge of concrete in any direction.
