This assembly features a buckling restrained brace connected to a steel frame via gusset plates at the beam-to-column intersections. The buckling restrained brace, including its steel core and connection elements, is designated as a protected zone per AISC 341-14 requirements. Attachments that penetrate the brace casing, such as screws or powder-actuated fasteners, or any attachments supporting over 50 pounds, require approval from the engineer of record and the brace manufacturer. Beam web stiffener plates are provided on each side as required by the brace supplier. The connection utilizes two rows of pre-tensioned bolts at the drag beams, with shear tabs slotted through the columns.
