A steel column is encased in a concrete encasement with a diameter sized per plan, featuring an octagonal or round base plate option. The assembly is reinforced vertically with eight number four bars that lap as required and hook into the slab on the steel deck. Transverse reinforcement consists of number three ties spaced at twelve inches on center. Vertical bar laps are one foot six inches with staggered lap locations.
