A horizontal brace connects to wide-flange beams using a five-eighths-inch-thick gusset plate. The braces connect to the gusset plate with three one-inch-diameter ASTM F3125 Grade A325-X bolts. Angles measuring three and a half by three by three-eighths by seven inches long are provided top and bottom, secured with two one-inch-diameter ASTM F3125 Grade A325-X bolts at top and bottom for a total of four bolts per angle. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld is applied on three sides at the center-line wide-flange backing and gusset plate assembly. The layout maintains a one-inch clearance typical between structural elements, with brace angles positioned between thirty and sixty degrees.
