A structural concrete slab opening edge is reinforced with number six bars at two feet six inches spaced at twelve inches on center, supplemented by number five bars at nine inches on center placed each way top and bottom. A one and one-half inch keyway forms the slab joint, flanked by two number four bars. Inserts match the dowel spacing, backed by one continuous number five bar at the inserts and two number six top and bottom bars each way.
