An HSS12x8x1/2 post supports an inclined HSS20x12 screenwall girt above a W21 structural steel column sized per plan. A 1/2-inch thick cap plate is welded to the top of the column with a three-quarter-inch fillet weld typical on all sides. The HSS post is secured to the cap plate with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. Stiffener plates are provided inside the column and referenced to a typical detail.
