A wide flange W beam supports a concrete slab featuring a stepped profile with a two-inch maximum step. A continuous one-quarter-inch bent plate connects to the assembly, welded with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds spaced at two to twelve inches. The slab maintains a six-inch minimum dimension from the beam centerline. The W beam size is specified per plan.
