A structural steel backstop connection is detailed with a beam supported by a hanger per elevation and a three-eighths-inch gusset plate welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. The diagonal brace is secured to the gusset plate using two five-eighths-inch diameter ASTM A325 bolts with specified edge distances and spacings. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web at the working point with three-sixteenths-inch welds on three sides. Additional framing elements and hangers are coordinated per elevation and plan requirements, referencing sheet S8.3 for further information.
