A steel column sits inside a concrete footing pocket sized per plan, centered on column lines with base plate and anchor bolts detailed elsewhere. Infill concrete is cast after the column base plate has been grouted. A control joint or construction joint is placed around the perimeter per structural requirements. Number four trim bars are centered typically in the surrounding concrete with a two-inch clear cover and six-inch minimum dimension.
