Angle braces measuring three by three by one-quarter inches connect to the steel beam with three-sixteenths inch welds at each joist typically. Steel bar joists span across the steel beam, sized per the roof framing plan. A six-inch wood nailer with the same width as the beam flange fits between the bar joists, secured with seven-eighths inch diameter welded studs at twelve inches on center staggered with a one-inch maximum countersink dap. Two rows of bolts are specified unless noted otherwise, referencing detail seven. Additional notes require welding angle braces to the beam after roof installation, coordinating brace locations with sprinkler pipes, and placing braces within six inches of the top chord panel point or installing an auxiliary web.
