An HSS column base plate connection located at Level 8 consists of a hollow structural section column welded to a three-quarter-inch base plate. Four seven-eighth-inch diameter A325N bolts secure the base plate to the supporting beam flange. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the HSS column to the base plate. The supporting beam features a full-depth shear plate sized per plan.
