The steel column is welded to a 1 1/2-inch thick A572-50 steel base plate with 5/16-inch double-sided fillet welds. The base plate features four 2 3/8-inch diameter holes for anchor rods, spaced at 9 inches on center in both directions. The assembly sits on a 1 1/2-inch layer of non-shrink grout over the concrete foundation. Four 1 1/2-inch diameter anchor rods secure the base plate to the foundation.
