An HSS8x6 wind girt frames into an HSS6x6 column and connects to a W18 beam supporting a metal deck floor. L4x4x5/16 angles measuring zero feet six inches long attach the girt to the column top and bottom with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. An L4x4x5/16 angle measuring zero feet eight inches long connects the girt to the W18 beam with a one-half inch maximum gap. Grade 50 stiffener plates are welded to the beam flanges and webs with complete joint penetration welds, placed on each side as typical.
