A dowel laminated timber deck bears directly onto a steel beam flange with shear studs omitted at the connection location. An uplift-resistant connection assembly transfers a five thousand pound allowable stress load from the timber deck to the steel beam flange. Four three-quarter-inch by six-inch grip lag bolts at four and one-half inch spacing secure through a three-quarter-inch by eighteen-inch by one-foot six-inch ASTM A36 steel plate placed at the middle of the dowel laminated timber dimensional lumber width.
