Steel beam connections frame into a column with continuity plates and a cap plate at the top of the column. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at the top and bottom flanges with demand critical requirements per AWS D1.8. Three three-quarter-inch diameter erection bolts secure the shear tab connection with typical one-and-a-half-inch and two-inch spacings. Weld access holes are detailed with a one-half-inch minimum radius in the plate.
