About this detail

Steel joists bear onto an interior steel column featuring a steel cap plate sized per the column schedule and continuity plates where required. A five-inch deep joist bearing end connects with two erection bolts, using half-inch diameter A325 bolts at K-joists and three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts at LH-joists for spans of forty feet or more. The support uses an L5x5x3/8 angle matching the column width plus one inch, reinforced with a three-eighths-inch stiffener plate and welded with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld at K-joists or a quarter-inch fillet weld at LH-joists. Three-eighths-by-six-inch by zero-foot-six-inch stabilizer plates with thirteen-sixteenth-inch diameter holes are provided typically at joists, left unwelded to the bottom chords unless otherwise noted. Additional half-inch by six-inch plates match the column width.
