Openings in the roof up to one foot square are framed with L3x3x3/16 structural steel angles on two sides of the opening, while angles are omitted at openings six inches square and smaller. A sixteen-gauge closure plate provided by the deck supplier runs all around the opening and is welded to the steel deck. The metal deck spans fully across the assembly with uninterrupted flutes typical, and puddle welds secure the deck at each flute.
