A joist girder frames into a steel column with a bolted connection, supported by a 3/4-inch by 6-inch plate sized to the girder width plus one inch and a 1/2-inch by 5-inch by 1-foot 3-inch stiffener plate. A 1/2-inch by 15-inch plate connects the diagonal framing member, where the width equals the column width plus one inch or girder width plus one inch, whichever is greater. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the connection assembly. Girt framing above connects per detail 8 on sheet S703.
