Framing and reinforcing for core openings in metal deck slabs distinguishes between cuts made before and after concrete placement. Openings up to two feet maximum are framed with angles welded to full-height deck flutes on each side. Two number four bars are placed on each side full span for structural continuity around the cutout. Styrofoam blocks out the opening when pouring concrete ahead of cutting. Openings under six inches require no added reinforcing.
