A typical concrete pit is embedded in soil with a recessed grating at the top slab level. The pit features an eight-inch thick base slab and walls reinforced with number four bars at twelve inches on center each way centered in the wall typically, supplemented by continuous number four top and bottom bars. The clear span of the pit is four feet maximum unless noted otherwise, with a maximum depth of four feet unless noted otherwise. Slab thickness and reinforcement are sized per plan.
