A structural steel connection joins a truss bottom chord to a wide-flange column flange with a three-quarter-inch Grade 50 shear plate welded to the column. Three seven-eighth-inch diameter ASTM F3125 Grade A325 bolts centered in two-and-a-half-inch horizontally slotted holes secure the connection, allowing for horizontal movement with a three-quarter-inch gap. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds attach the shear plate to the column flange. The truss bottom chord connects per the framing elevations while the wide-flange column is sized per the structural plans.
