A steel joist girder bears on a three-quarter-inch thick column cap plate secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts in two-inch slotted holes perpendicular to the girder. A knife plate and HSS two by two by one-quarter sections placed on each side with a half-inch gap stabilize the top chord. A bottom chord of the joist connects at the column with a three-quarter-inch plate and fillet welds. The joist manufacturer coordinates the bearing seat slope with the roof slope per structural requirements.
