Typical trim reinforcement configuration around slab openings. Diagonal trim reinforcement using number four bars frames the corners of the opening, with number five reinforcing bars placed typically around the perimeter at three inches clearance from the edge. Hook bars are required if dimensions are less than two feet six inches. For concrete fill thickness above the deck less than three inches, diagonals are omitted. At fill reinforced with welded wire fabric less than four inches thick, diagonal trim bars only are required.
