A supported steel beam frames into a supporting steel beam utilizing a seated connection detail. The supported beam features a slotted web to fit over a plate seat of specified dimensions. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides and centered at the web of the supported beam. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325-N bolts secure the connection through the beam gauges on the near side and far side. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are also provided on both sides of the supporting beam web. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied typically on three sides.
