A structural steel drag strut connection framing wide-flange beams into a steel column with a fifty KSI steel cap plate sized to match the beam flange width and thickness. The cap plate is welded to the column web with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld. A three-quarter-inch by six and one-eighth-inch girder bearing plate is attached below. Wide-flange beams connect via shear tabs welded with seven-sixteenths inch fillet welds on three sides, designated as slab longitudinal collector drag struts on plan. A metal roof deck spans above the framing members.
