A continuous wide flange beam is supported by a wide flange or hollow structural section column. A three-quarter-inch plate secures the top of the column to the bottom flange of the beam using four three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts typically unless noted otherwise. One-half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web aligned with the column supports using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. Minimum welds per American Institute of Steel Construction specifications are applied to the web and flanges. The column size and layout are determined per plan.
