A steel beam bears directly onto a steel cap plate welded to the top of a steel column, sized per the column schedule. A beam web stiffener or beam web connection plate is provided on each side of the beam web, welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides as specified. Additional connection components include bolts securing the beam flange to the cap plate assembly.
