A structural gusset plate connects to the underside of a wide flange beam at the apex of a chevron brace. The work point is located at one-half the actual beam depth from the top flange. One-half-inch thick stiffener plates are provided on near and far sides of the beam web, with additional one-half-inch stiffeners on both sides of the gusset plate. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the stiffeners and gusset connections. Weld configurations and "Z" regions follow specific detail references.
