This concrete masonry unit lintel detail shows the reinforcing configuration over a wall opening. The assembly consists of concrete masonry units with knocked-out webs to accommodate grout and rebar. Top reinforcing requires a minimum of one number 4 bar, while bottom reinforcing is sized per schedule. Single-leg shear reinforcement with 135-degree hooks wraps around the longitudinal reinforcing. An additional number 5 horizontal bar is required where the lintel depth exceeds 32 inches, and lintel blocks are specified for the bottom course only.
