This structural steel detail shows beam framing connections to both the flange and web of a wide-flange column. The left assembly connects a beam to a column flange using a shear plate with five bolts, topped with a one-half inch column cap plate and a one-quarter inch fillet weld where noted. The right assembly connects a beam to a column web using a shear plate combined with one-half inch top and bottom plates, featuring five-sixteenths fillet welds at each end and cope stiffener plates as required with a maximum five-eighths inch clearance. Perpendicular framing is omitted for clarity, and additional information is referenced on sheet S7.02.
