A hollow structural section column bears on a one-half-inch steel base plate secured by one-half-inch headed anchors equipped with leveling nuts. The assembly rests over a three-inch layer of non-shrink grout atop a reinforced concrete elevator pit wall. The base plate features one-and-one-half-inch edge clearances and a five-sixteenths fillet weld connecting the column profile to the plate.
