Steel roof joists bear upon a supporting structural steel beam sized per plan with a joist top chord extension spanning across the top flange. Three-eighths-inch steel stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web at each joist bearing location using five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides. Steel roof deck per plan bears directly over the assembly.
