A galvanized hollow structural section framing member connects to a wide-flange column with fifty kilopound per square inch five-eighths-inch fitted stiffener plates located at the top and bottom on each side of the column web, aligned with the hollow structural section wall. All welds in the assembly are designated as seal welds with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds ground smooth where required. A one-quarter-inch-diameter weep hole is provided at the bottom surface of all enclosed canopy tubes at the low point. A one-half-inch minimum full-height shear connection provides attachment to the wide-flange column web.
