An insulated precast concrete panel ties back to a concrete slab on metal deck supported by a steel beam. The connection features a continuous bent plate measuring 1/2 inch by 6 and 1/2 inches, anchored with 3/8-inch diameter by 3-foot long dowel bar anchors spaced at 1 foot on center maximum. A precast panel attachment plate provided by the manufacturer includes a 3-inch horizontal slotted hole at each panel tieback to accommodate out-of-plane lateral movement. The concrete slab edge incorporates continuous three number 5 chord reinforcement along with number 4 L-dowels at 12 inches on center maximum and a continuous number 3 gauge reinforcement bar. A conduit penetration is located near the beam edge with specific instructions left unwelded to the chord rebar. The general contractor must coordinate the joint gap and connection locations with the precast panel manufacturer to avoid conflicts with raised floor pedestals.
