A structural roof deck bears above a hollow structural section column, separated by a maximum one-inch gap. Steel angles sized L6x4x3/8 with long vertical slots attach to each side of the hollow structural section column using bolts. Four 5/8-inch diameter by 4-inch embedment KB-TZ anchor bolts secure the assembly with typical edge distances of 1-1/2 inches minimum and 4 inches maximum.
