A buckling restrained brace connects to a wide flange column and wide flange beam junction via a continuous gusset plate welded with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds on each side of the gusset plate and three sides typically. The wide flange beams connect to the column web with bolted shear tabs, with stiffener plates added as required by the brace manufacturer specifications and approved shop drawings. A one-half inch thick cap plate, with a width matching the column width, sits atop the wide flange column. Concrete fill over metal deck occurs where specified per plan. The buckling restrained brace is installed per manufacturer specifications and details.
