A structural steel post is embedded within a cast-in-place concrete caisson and tied to an adjacent exterior slab on grade. The steel post is sized per plan and equipped with one-half-inch diameter by four-inch long welded headed anchors on each side spaced at twelve inches on center, with the first set located three inches from the bottom of the hollow structural section. The concrete caisson features vertical reinforcing bars and horizontal ties per schedule, with three ties placed within five inches of the caisson top using standard ninety-degree hooks. Additional reinforcing details include three inches of concrete clear cover at the sides and bottom, and a six-inch minimum lap for vertical bars where applicable. The top of the caisson interfaces with the lowest exterior concrete slab on grade and surrounding hardscape per landscape drawings.
