An HSS 6x4 elevator separator beam bears against a structural steel framing member using an L8x6x1/2 angle with long legs vertical cut to fit. The connection features a two-inch minimum clearance unless noted otherwise. The angle is welded to the supporting steel member with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The HSS beam is secured to the angle with a quarter-inch fillet weld maintained at a three-inch minimum length.
