Cast-in-place concrete curb walls are anchored to a concrete slab or foundation with dowels. Two geometric conditions are detailed: a wider and taller configuration utilizing number four continuous corner bars, number four U-bars at sixteen inches on center, and vertical bars spaced at sixteen inches on center maximum where height exceeds sixteen inches; and a narrower or shorter configuration utilizing two number four continuous bars and single vertical dowels spaced according to height. Dowels are detailed with six inches of embedment, set into drilled and epoxied holes at the contractor's option, with instructions to avoid damaging slab tendons or reinforcing. At concrete over metal deck applications, dowels are specifically located in the low flutes.
