A three-eighths-inch-thick gusset plate connects to a hollow structural section hanger sized per elevation with a three-eighths-inch cap plate at the base. A diagonal member attaches to the gusset plate using two bolted connections spaced at two inches and three inches with one-inch typical edge clearances.
